I'm planning to upgrade to AM5 and specifically get the 7800X3D, but I'm a bit concerned about cooling options. My case, the MSI MAG Forge m100a, can only fit a 240mm AIO cooler. Will this be adequate to keep the 7800X3D cool during gaming? Ideally, I want to avoid temperatures exceeding 75 degrees, and definitely not going over 80. Right now, I play at 1080p but am planning to move to 1440p soon before upgrading my PC. I've been looking at either the CORSAIR Nautilus 240 RS or the MSI MAG CORELIQUID A13 240mm for cooling.

You're probably fine with a 240mm AIO. I run a Peerless Assassin on my 7800X3D, and during heavy gaming, I don’t see temps go over 75C. Just ensure you have good case airflow and you should be set!
Glad to hear that! Just keep an eye on airflow.
Using a 240mm AIO should work fine for the 7800X3D, but you might not actually need it. Many users have reported that even a good air cooler like the Peerless Assassin can handle the temps well. If you're looking to save some cash, consider that option.
Do you think it would really be as effective as a liquid cooler, though?
Yeah, I mean, your temps will generally be fine with a decent air cooler.
The 7800X3D is pretty efficient in terms of heat output, so even a basic air cooler is likely to keep your temps in check. Just make sure whatever cooler you choose is compatible with your setup!
My friend uses a basic heatsink and has had no issues with temps at all.
Exactly! It’s all about airflow in your case too.
A 240mm AIO is definitely not overkill, and it should cool your CPU nicely, especially while gaming. However, if I had to choose again, I might go for a high-quality air cooler instead of spending on an AIO. They can be just as effective, and you don’t have the hassle of potential leaks.
That's kind of where I'm leaning now. Maybe I won't stress over the AIO.
Same here! Just a good air cooler and you'd be golden.
Honestly, a solid air cooler would likely do the job just as well as a 240mm AIO. Some users have even reported good results with simple tower coolers, like the Arctic Freezer 36. The 7800X3D is designed to stay within safe thermal limits, so you'll probably be okay.
Good to know! I was skeptical if air cooling could really handle it.
Yeah, I've seen people get by just fine with air coolers on the 7800.

Thanks! That gives me some confidence about my cooler choice.
