Do I Need to Worry About Lane Sharing with My B850 Aorus Elite Ice?

I'm curious about how lane sharing works with the B850 Aorus Elite Ice motherboard. I want my GPU to have all 16 lanes dedicated to it, but I've heard that using certain M.2 slots might take away from that. Currently, I'm using the top PCIe x16 slot for my GPU and all three NVMe slots for storage. Am I compromising any performance by doing this? Which M.2 slots might impact my GPU's performance?

You can rest easy, the B850 Ice doesn’t have any lane sharing issues. Your GPU will consistently get all 16 lanes it needs. If you check the motherboard specs, it should clearly state if there are any shared lanes. Just so you know, if you were using a Ryzen 8000 CPU, that would be a different story since it has fewer PCIe lanes available.

Oh cool, that’s nice to know. So it would just explicitly state it in the expansion slots section, right?

You're in good shape! Your GPU will always have access to 16 lanes. Keep in mind that the bottom M.2 slot does go through the chipset, which means it shares its 4 lanes with other devices. But honestly, the performance difference is usually minimal, so you shouldn't notice any significant drop.

Thanks for clarifying! That's reassuring.
