I built a PC in 2017 with an Intel i5 7500, GTX 1070, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM mainly for gaming. Recently, I've shifted to photography and some video editing, and I feel that my CPU is the bottleneck. I'm considering upgrading to a mid-high end CPU, possibly from AMD, but I realized that this means getting a new motherboard too, especially since DDR5 RAM is now available. Given the crazy RAM prices lately, I'm wondering: can I reuse my current DDR4 RAM, or will I have to buy new ones regardless?

What speed and latency does your RAM have? Generally, you can reuse DDR4 RAM on both LGA 1700 and AM4 platforms, which are quite modern now.

I checked, and it's 2400MHz.
