My Acer Nitro V 15 was working normally a few days ago, but it now refuses to power on unless the charger is connected. Pressing the power button while it is unplugged produces three red beeps or flashes from the side of the laptop. It starts normally when plugged in. Interestingly, holding the power button for about 20–30 seconds sometimes allows it to start without the charger. Could this be a failed battery, a charging or battery-state problem, or something else?

The long power-button hold is worth trying as a reset, but it does not prove the battery is healthy. Disconnect the charger, hold the power button for 20–30 seconds, reconnect the charger, and check whether the operating system reports a battery or charging error. If the problem returns whenever the charger is removed, get the battery diagnosed rather than continuing to use it as normal.
This sounds most likely like a battery that has failed, stopped charging, or entered an abnormal protection state. Since the laptop runs normally from the charger but will not start on battery power, have the battery and charging circuit tested. If the battery is faulty, it will probably need to be replaced.
A battery that is not holding a charge could definitely cause this. The fact that it works from the adapter points more toward the battery or its connection than the main system board.
