I'm planning to move my main PC into a Fractal Design North case and want to use its front USB-C port. My current TUF Gaming X570-Plus WiFi motherboard doesn't have the internal header needed for that connection.
I also need to buy a motherboard for a small gaming-focused server, so I'm considering upgrading my main system at the same time. It uses a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 32 GB of 3600 MHz memory, an RTX 4070 Super, and two M.2 SSDs—a Samsung 990 Pro and 980 Pro. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth would be convenient, though I could add them with an expansion card if necessary.
I'm not very familiar with the differences between B550 and X570, and the boards I've found with the features I want often cost far more than I'm willing to spend. Ideally, I'd like to stay in the $150–$300 range and remain on AM4 rather than moving to AM5.
Are there affordable AM4 boards with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, support for my CPU and two M.2 drives, and a proper front-panel USB-C header? Alternatively, can an adapter or PCIe expansion card provide better-than-USB 2.0 speeds through the case's front USB-C port?

A PCIe USB expansion card with an internal front-panel Type-E header is also a good option. It should not automatically be limited to USB 2.0; performance depends on the card’s controller and the PCIe connection. This may be cheaper than replacing a perfectly usable motherboard, though you’ll want to check whether the card includes the correct internal connector.
You may not need to replace your current motherboard at all. It already has a USB 3.x internal header, and an adapter can convert that connection to the case’s USB-C front-panel plug. The front port should still operate at USB 3.x speeds, rather than being limited to USB 2.0. These adapters are usually inexpensive, often around $10–$15.
If maximum speed is not important, a USB 2.0 header-to-USB-C adapter is another option, but it will be heavily limited for data transfers. A USB 3.x-to-USB-C adapter is the better choice for this case if your existing board has a spare USB 3 header.
Several reasonably priced B550 boards include the header you need. The ASRock B550 PG Riptide is one example and has a front-panel USB-C USB 3.2 Gen 2 header. The ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming WiFi II is another option with built-in wireless networking. Both are suitable for a 5800X3D, though you should confirm BIOS support before buying older stock.
Some Gigabyte X570 Aorus models, including the X570 Aorus Pro WiFi and X570 Aorus Elite, have the 20-pin internal USB-C header, commonly called a USB Type-E header. They offer plenty of connectivity, but pricing can be higher, so checking used listings may make them fit the budget. For this use case, B550 is generally enough unless you specifically need X570’s additional chipset connectivity.
That sounds like the simplest solution. I was worried the adapter would reduce it to USB 2.0, but USB 3.x speeds would be perfectly acceptable.
