Any workarounds for my laptop’s problematic charging port causing game stuttering?

Hey everyone! I'm dealing with a frustrating issue with my ASUS Vivobook Pro 15 laptop. My dog's chew attack on the charger seems to have caused a short in the charging port, leading to a situation where my laptop keeps switching between battery and plugged-in power. This cycle isn't too troublesome for everyday tasks, but it's really affecting my gaming experience—my games stutter when plugged in, while they run smoothly on battery. I've exhausted my options, including having a tech-savvy friend tweak the settings to equalize performance, but nothing has worked. I do have a warranty through Best Buy, but I can't afford to send my laptop away for repairs since I need it for work. Are there any alternative solutions out there, or is fixing the port my only option?

Check if your charging port is an easy-to-replace model. Some laptops just have a plug-in jack that you could switch out yourself! Look up your model for specifics.

Thanks for the insight! I'll check into that possibility!

Honestly, it’s probably best to send it in for repairs. Messing around with power delivery issues isn’t the safest route, especially since it could lead to further damage.

It really isn’t worth playing with fire over a charging issue. Just get it replaced if you can.

Before thinking about any intricate repairs, try a different charger—make sure it’s a legit ASUS one, though. It could resolve the issue without needing major fix-ups.

Just a heads up: if the short is due to the dog chewing the charger, the warranty might not cover it. They could say it was damaged before you bought it. Just be ready for that possibility.
