Are genuinely new LGA 1150 motherboards with NVMe support still available?

Since LGA 1150 is the last Intel platform commonly associated with DDR3, I'm wondering whether there is still a shortage of truly new motherboards for it, especially models with built-in NVMe M.2 slots. With current SSD pricing making NVMe drives attractive compared with SATA models, are these boards actually being manufactured today, or are the listings mostly refurbished and rebuilt hardware?

There are hardly any genuinely new LGA 1150 motherboards left. Most listings described as new are refurbished boards or rebuilt products using an older chipset mounted on a replacement PCB. They can work fine, but they shouldnโ€™t be confused with current factory production.

If the motherboard lacks an M.2 slot, a PCIe-to-NVMe adapter is usually an option. The main limitation is boot support: some older firmware cannot boot directly from an NVMe drive. In that case, you may need to boot from a SATA or USB drive and use the NVMe drive as storage, unless a custom firmware solution adds NVMe boot support.

DDR3 isnโ€™t the main reason people are choosing LGA 1150 anymore. Most newer systems use DDR4, partly because they offer better platform support and are more likely to include native M.2 NVMe support. In 2026, building around DDR3 generally means accepting a very old CPU platform.
