Hey everyone! I'm curious if AMD drivers still cause stuttering issues when loading games. I used to have a 6800 XT, and every time I updated the drivers, it would lead to stuttering, especially when loading new maps in games like Valorant. I found it really disruptive, especially since I play competitively. I'm thinking about purchasing a 9070 XT for $800 CAD, but I want to know if anyone who's using it is experiencing similar driver-related problems after updates. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Driver updates generally require shader reloading whether you're using Nvidia or AMD. In my experience with AMD cards over the years, they've been more stable lately. The old 'bad AMD driver' label is outdated at this point!
I think a lot of the issues are game-specific rather than driver-related. I've noticed stutters mostly in titles where shader compilation is a common complaint. It's not just an AMD thing, really.
Both Nvidia and AMD had their share of issues during this gen, but they seem pretty stable now. Currently, AMD's bigger concern is catching up to Nvidia in upscaling tech.
Shader compilation hiccups happen on every card nowadays; it's a gaming reality, not just an AMD problem. Digital Foundry has detailed this in their videos if you want to check it out.
I've owned both the 6800 XT and the 9070 XT, and personally, I've never encountered that stuttering issue. I think newer drivers have been pretty solid!

Absolutely! It's more about how each game's engine handles shaders. Some just do a poorer job than others.
