I'm building my first PC and would appreciate a second opinion before buying the remaining parts. I'm purchasing everything gradually and have already bought the Fractal North XL case, Corsair RM1000e 1000W power supply, Corsair Nautilus 360 RS LCD liquid cooler, and Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite WiFi 7 motherboard. The planned system is a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32GB of DDR5-6000 CL30 memory, a 2TB NVMe drive, and eventually an RTX 5080. For now, I'll use my existing RTX 4060 and upgrade later. I'm mainly wondering whether any parts are excessive or worth changing. A power estimate suggests roughly 700W, so I'm unsure whether the 1000W PSU was unnecessary. I'd also like to know whether DDR5-6000 CL30 remains a good choice for the 9800X3D, since memory prices are currently high. I'm new to PC building, so any compatibility checks, setup advice, or commonly overlooked tips would be helpful. I'm especially interested in running heavily modded Minecraft with shaders and visual overhauls in games such as Cyberpunk 2077.

It’s worth keeping a backup boot drive available in case a firmware update or troubleshooting session causes the NVMe drive not to appear temporarily. Your existing SSD can serve that purpose after backing up anything important and wiping it properly. You don’t necessarily need to buy another drive, but don’t erase the old one until you’ve confirmed all of its data is safely backed up.
DDR5-6000 with fairly tight timings such as CL30 is still a strong target for a Ryzen 9000 gaming system. If pricing is unreasonable, a reputable 5600 or 6000 kit with decent timings will still perform well; don’t pay a huge premium for tiny benchmark gains. Less familiar brands can be fine, but check the exact kit’s reviews, warranty, and whether it appears on the motherboard’s memory support list.
I found a much cheaper kit from a brand I don’t recognize, so I’ll check its reviews, warranty, and motherboard compatibility before considering it.
A quality 1000W PSU is a sensible choice for this build rather than a serious mistake. The estimated average load may be around 700W, but a 5080 can have short power spikes, and the extra capacity gives you useful headroom. Just make sure the PSU has the appropriate modern GPU power connector or use the manufacturer-approved cable, and avoid sharply bending the cable near the connector.
The parts should work well together, and nothing looks fundamentally incompatible. The 9800X3D, fast DDR5, and eventual RTX 5080 are high-end choices, so it makes sense if you plan to play demanding games with heavy shaders and graphics mods. The system is expensive, but it isn’t automatically wasteful if you’ll actually use that performance.
That’s mainly what I’m aiming for—I’d like to experiment with heavily modded Minecraft and shaders, as well as major graphics overhauls in Cyberpunk.

I still have an SSD in my current PC, so I’ll back it up and reuse it as a fallback Windows drive rather than buying another one immediately.
