A friend gave me an ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming motherboard that reportedly worked normally until he replaced the CPU. After the swap, the system powers on but will not POST. The board shows Q-Code 37 and a yellow/amber Q-LED, suggesting a DRAM initialization problem. Nothing else was supposedly changed. Could this be caused by BIOS or CMOS settings, failed memory training, or improperly seated hardware? Or is it more likely that the CPU socket, motherboard, or CPU's memory controller was damaged during installation? I'm wondering whether this board is worth troubleshooting and if there's a realistic chance of getting it working again.

The first thing I’d inspect is the CPU socket very carefully. Since the problem began immediately after the processor was replaced, a bent or damaged socket pin is a real possibility, and even one affected memory-channel pin can cause a DRAM initialization failure. Remove the CPU, use bright lighting or magnification to inspect the socket, then reseat the CPU and cooler evenly. It’s also worth clearing CMOS and testing with one known-good RAM module, but the timing makes installation damage worth checking first.

That makes sense. He may simply not have had time to troubleshoot, but I’ll still inspect the socket closely before assuming the board is beyond repair.
