I was gaming on my Asus TUF A15 while it was connected to power when the electricity suddenly went out. I shut the laptop down because I didn't want to drain the battery, then turned it back on after power was restored. Since then, it no longer charges, even though it still runs on the remaining battery power. I've tested multiple wall outlets with the same result and am trying to determine whether the AC adapter or the laptop's charging circuitry is at fault. This model does not support USB-C charging. What should I test first?

The quickest way to narrow this down is to test with a known-good, compatible Asus charger. Since the A15 does not support USB-C charging, borrowing another charger with the exact voltage, connector, and sufficient wattage is the practical comparison. If the replacement works, your adapter was probably damaged by the outage; if it doesn’t, the laptop’s charging port or internal power circuitry may need service.
Because the charger was still connected when power returned, the adapter may have been damaged by the surge or unstable electricity. Try a different compatible adapter first, and inspect the charger’s indicator light, cable, and plug for damage. A surge protector or UPS would also help protect the laptop in the future, especially if outages are common where you live.
Unfortunately, USB-C charging isn’t supported on this model, so I’ll need to find a compatible barrel-plug charger to test it.
