I've finally decided on the Gigabyte B850M AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE-P motherboard, but I'm overwhelmed by the list of compatible storage options. I've heard that for optimal performance, I should be using a PCIe 5.0 M.2 NVMe SSD in the top M2A slot since it's directly connected to the CPU. I'm looking for recommendations on a 2 TB SSD that would fit this setup. What would you suggest?

The Samsung 990 EVO Plus is a solid pick! If you're looking for something that won't break the bank, also consider the WD SN850X. Just a heads up, you really don't need a PCIe 5.0 SSD unless you're an enterprise user – for gaming and regular tasks, speeds past a certain point don’t make a noticeable difference. You’ll get diminishing returns on performance vs. cost.
Are you building this rig just for gaming, or do you have work-related tasks in mind too?

It's going to be a mix of both gaming and work!
