I have an ASRock A320M/ac (AM4) motherboard paired with an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor. Since I've recently upgraded my RAM and GPU, I think it's time to also upgrade my CPU, as it's been the same since I bought my PC in 2020. What CPU would be the best upgrade for my setup? Also, can I just buy another Ryzen 5 3600 and swap it in, or is there something better?

To answer your question about swapping in the same CPU, that's not really an upgrade. If your BIOS is updated to version P7.20 or newer, you can look at the 5000 series Ryzen CPUs like the 5700X for a solid upgrade.
If you're using a newer GPU like the 4060 or 5060 series, I'd recommend the Ryzen 5600X or the 5700X. If you've got a high-end GPU, like a 4090 or 5090, and you want to game at high resolutions without any bottlenecks, the Ryzen 5800X3D would be your best bet.
According to the specs for your motherboard, the 5800X3D would be your top choice for gaming. The 5950X could be great for workstation tasks, but it might be overkill and not the best match for your A320 board. Just keep in mind that the price of the 5800X3D has risen, so it’s worth considering whether it's truly the right investment.
