Best CPU Upgrade Options for My B660m Setup

I'm currently using a 12400F CPU on an Asus B660m WiFi motherboard. I'm planning to upgrade my GPU from a 3070 to a 9070xt but want to know what CPU would be a good fit to upgrade to while keeping my motherboard. Any suggestions?

It really depends on what resolution you plan on gaming at. If you're playing at higher resolutions like 1440p, you might not need to rush into a CPU upgrade right away.

However, I think you should be cautious as the motherboard doesn’t have the best VRMs and it’s DDR4. Upgrading the CPU with this board might not be worth it.

I’d recommend looking into either the i7 12700KF or the 13700KF. Those would fit nicely on your current setup.

I had a similar setup, but switched to AMD because my B660m board wasn’t performing well. If your board is solid, upgrading to a 13th or 14th gen Intel CPU could work. But honestly, the AM5 platform is a significant upgrade if you want to future-proof your system.
