I'm currently facing a dilemma as I want to upgrade my CPU from the 5600X because I'm experiencing a significant bottleneck with my 5070 Ti, especially when playing Battlefield 6. The issue is that I'm unsure about the best options available. I don't want to switch to AM5 due to the high costs involved, and sticking with AM4 presents its own challenges since the prices for the X3D chips are quite steep (around £400 for a 5800X3D). What should I consider? Is there any other AM4 CPU that could help alleviate the bottleneck? For context, I game at a resolution of 3440x1440 with a refresh rate of 120Hz.

Why not consider the 5700X? It’s relatively affordable and having those two extra cores can be beneficial in Battlefield.
I recommend checking out the 5700X3D; it should provide a great boost in CPU-intensive titles. While it's not a massive leap in overall performance, you could see an average FPS increase of about 30, and 20 more FPS in heavier CPU-bound scenarios.
I'm currently using a 5700X with that GPU, and it runs smoothly even on a 4K TV. I’d lean towards the 5700X due to its lower power consumption compared to the 5800X.
Even with games that are CPU heavy, the 5950X isn't a significant upgrade over the 5600X. It might be better to hold off until AM5 or the X3D CPUs drop in price.
If you're looking for a free option, try overclocking your 5600X and make sure you enable XMP settings.

Yeah but finding them can be tricky since they're discontinued. Anyone wanting to stay on AM4 likely already upgraded to them.
