Best GPU for a Budget 1080p AM4 Gaming Build?

I'm putting together a new gaming PC using the AM4 platform, probably with a Ryzen 5 5600, and I'm trying to choose a graphics card for 1080p gaming. I've been considering an RTX 5060 Ti 8GB for around ยฃ370, but I'd prefer to spend closer to ยฃ300 or less if possible. My overall build budget is ideally under ยฃ900, although I have a little flexibility. I mainly play Rocket League, Overwatch, Rainbow Six Siege, Minecraft, and other relatively undemanding games, though I may try some single-player titles later. I usually play on low or moderate settings rather than maxed-out graphics. Is an 8GB card such as the RTX 5060 or RX 9060 XT enough, or should I stretch for a 16GB model or consider a used GPU?

If youโ€™re comfortable buying used, cards such as an RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT can offer much stronger performance and more VRAM for around the same money, depending on local prices and condition. The downside is that they use more power and have more unknowns than a new card, so make sure the seller is trustworthy and check the warranty situation. For a new purchase, the 9060 XT 8GB is the safer straightforward recommendation.

For your games and 1080p resolution, an 8GB RX 9060 XT would be a sensible choice if you can find one around ยฃ300. The RTX 5060 8GB is also suitable, but compare prices and performance before buying. Youโ€™re unlikely to need 16GB for esports games, especially if youโ€™re comfortable using low or medium settings. VRAM becomes more of a concern in newer single-player games at ultra settings.

MellowPine47: That sounds reassuring. Iโ€™ve never really used maximum settings anyway, so Iโ€™m leaning toward the cheaper 8GB option rather than spending several hundred more for a little extra future-proofing.

The RX 9060 XT 8GB seems like the best fit for this budget. Your Ryzen 5 5600 should pair reasonably well with it at 1080p, particularly in the games you listed. A 16GB card would give you more headroom, but it isnโ€™t essential for your current use. Just avoid assuming that every game will run perfectly with ultra textures years from now.

MellowPine47: Iโ€™ll probably keep the settings conservative even in future single-player games, so I think saving money on the GPU makes more sense for this build.
