Best GPU Upgrade for Gaming and Future Proofing

I'm looking to upgrade my PC's GPU so I can enjoy modern games again. I'd like to target 4K resolution with solid graphics. My monitor is a video editing screen, so it caps at 60fps, making visuals really important for me. I mainly play single-player games like Metro Exodus, Atomic Heart, The Last of Us, and God of War, but I'll be jumping into Battlefield 6 with friends soon.

Here's what I currently have: Intel i7 9700K, a Z370A Pro motherboard, 32GB of DDR4 3600MHz RAM, a 500W EVGA PSU, and a Geforce GTX 1060 with 6GB of VRAM. I recently upgraded my CPU to the best my motherboard can handle, and now I'm set on upgrading my GPU. I'm looking to spend around £300, and I'm open to buying new or used, depending on what gives me the best performance and longevity.

Both the RTX 3080 and RX 6800 XT are excellent cards. The 3080 generally performs better in ray tracing and has good price-to-performance in many benchmarks. Given your games, either should be a solid pick, but just watch for the power requirements and make sure your PSU can handle it!

For your budget, the Radeon RX 6800 XT is a solid choice, providing 16GB of VRAM and good performance. However, keep in mind that you might eventually need to upgrade your CPU, RAM, and PSU to avoid any bottlenecks and ensure smoother gameplay. If you're looking at used options, check what's available in your local market for the best deals. Also, don’t overlook how the RTX 3080 might be priced right now, as it’s a great card for 4K gaming too!

Yeah, I've seen some decent used prices on the RTX 3080 too. It's worth considering if you can find it at a good price. Some users report great performance in both AAA and indie games.
