Best Laptop Choices for Learning DevOps in India

Hey folks! I'm really excited about diving into the world of DevOps. I've already tried out a CI/CD workflow on GitHub Actions for one of my work applications, successfully deploying a Django backend with a Java frontend on an NGINX web server hosted on a Linux AWS EC2 instance. Learning all this has been so much fun! Now I'm eager to expand my skills with some courses on Coursera that I've picked out. However, I currently don't have a laptop to experiment with Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD processes. I'm torn between getting a MacBook Air or a Windows laptop, like the ASUS TUF. My budget is ₹1,50,000, and while I've considered building a PC, I prefer the portability of a laptop. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Honestly, any recent laptop should suffice. I’d recommend going for an Intel or AMD processor over a Mac, especially if you want to maximize performance. Get as much RAM and as many CPU cores as you can afford. Personally, I prefer running Linux, but that might be just my bias talking!

Wait, are you sure Macs even have AMD CPUs?

Hey, have you thought about using a Raspberry Pi for your DevOps practice? It's pretty nifty for testing without needing a powerful laptop. If you need something stronger, just spin up an EC2 instance, connect via SSH, and get started there. That’s some genuine DevOps experience!

Thanks, I was considering that too! 🙂
