I'm looking to buy a laptop or desktop for my two twin nieces for their birthday in July. Should I go for one desktop for them to share, or a budget-friendly laptop each? I'm curious about what specifications would be suitable for 15-year-olds.

An older Dell OptiPlex from eBay could be a solid choice. They perform well for general tasks but are not great for gaming. You can find one for around $100, and some sellers bundle it with accessories. However, if they really prefer something portable, consider a Samsung Galaxy A9+ tablet, which is priced at about $200 on Amazon right now. Just got mine and it’s pretty nice!
For their needs, I'd avoid Pentium or Celeron processors. Depending on what they'll use the computer for, it's best to look for something with decent specs, especially if they're into school projects or casual gaming.
I actually have a desktop that needs a new motherboard. I might just fix it up and give it to them instead.
What's your budget for them? That will help narrow down the options. Also, where are you located?
My budget is around $400 for a desktop or about $200 each for the laptops. I'm in the United States.
I actually have a 32 GB and a 2 TB desktop that's just collecting dust. I should really fix the motherboard and get it running again.
