Best Linux Distro for Former Windows Users?

Hey everyone! I'm currently using Windows 10 and I'm not planning to upgrade to Windows 11. I've been thinking about making the switch to Linux but I'm overwhelmed by the options like POP OS, Zorin OS, Debian, and Ubuntu that my friends have suggested. I primarily use my PC for gaming on Steam and for university work, especially with Microsoft Office. What Linux distribution would you recommend for someone like me? I'd also appreciate any tips on how to smoothly transition to Linux!

I started with Linux Mint and had a good time with it, but recently switched to Nobara with KDE Plasma. It's more gaming-focused and feels a lot like Windows, plus it comes with LibreOffice pre-installed.

If you're new to Linux and want something easy, I'd say start with Linux Mint. It's very user-friendly and has a familiar interface for Windows users. However, if you're looking for something more geared towards gaming, PikaOS is also a solid choice; it's designed to be user-friendly and better supports gaming than Mint.

Zorin OS is great if you're looking for something that mimics Windows. It’s stable and user-friendly, especially for someone transitioning from Windows. If you like how it looks, go for it, but Ubuntu is also a great choice for support and flexibility.

Debian is a fantastic choice if your hardware is compatible. It's very stable and has extensive documentation, making it a good learning experience even though it takes a bit more setup for non-free drivers.

Honestly, I'd recommend sticking with Ubuntu. It's popular, widely supported, and it just works for most users. After getting comfortable, you could explore other options or even stick with Ubuntu long-term.
