Best Upgrade Options for My Lenovo P520 Gaming Rig?

I'm currently running a gaming rig with a 1440p setup, featuring an RX 6800 GPU, a Xeon W-2123 CPU, and 16GB of RAM powered by a 900W PSU. While the performance is decent, I find that the CPU is limiting, especially when it comes to livestreaming. I'm considering an upgrade to the CPU and have two options in mind: the W-2135, which has 4 cores and 8 threads, and the W-2145, which offers 8 cores and 12 threads with better RAM speed handling. My main questions are: 1) Which CPU option would be better for livestreaming—more cores or higher clock speeds? I know Xeon chips aren't ideal for gaming, but it's what I'm working with. 2) Should I also consider swapping my GPU for an NVIDIA? The RX 6800 performs well for gaming (hitting over 135fps on Cyberpunk on high settings), but I'm unsure if AMD GPUs struggle with livestreaming even if I upgrade my CPU.

When it comes to livestreaming, having more cores is generally beneficial. Upgrading to the W-2145 could help with your overall multitasking, especially if you're gaming and streaming at the same time.

I’d recommend switching away from the Xeon platform. For most gaming applications, faster clock speeds make a bigger difference than just adding more cores. But for streaming, you really want at least 6 cores and ideally 8. A modern Ryzen 5 might serve you better, especially for gaming and streaming.

That’s good to know! I’m leaning towards an upgrade for now since it’s more affordable than a complete rebuild. Any idea how much a decent CPU would run?

The RX 6800 should be fine for streaming if you switch it to a new setup! Just make sure the new CPU can keep up with it.
