Best Upgrades for Better Gaming Performance on a Budget?

I'm assisting a relative who has been experiencing crashes during Fortnite since the latest update. Her PC has never been exceptional but used to run the game on medium/low settings without issues. Here are the current specs:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
- Motherboard: Asus PRIME A320M-K Micro ATX AM4
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200 (2 x 8 GB)
- Power Supply: Corsair CX550 550 W 80+

What upgrades can we make to improve performance without breaking the bank?

Definitely check out a Ryzen 5 5600! That would really rev up the performance. You might consider getting a newer GPU later if funds allow, like a Radeon 5600 XT, which is around $300. But for now, focus on that CPU upgrade!

Would you say the main issue is not the GPU but the CPU then?

I think going for a Ryzen 5 5600 or even a 5600X would be your best shot. Just be sure to update the motherboard BIOS first. It’s a great way to boost your CPU power, and your GPU (the GTX 1070) might be holding up better than you think for now, so you can upgrade that later if needed.
