Can anyone suggest a good budget gaming headset?

Hey everyone! I'm a 20-year-old female looking to surprise my boyfriend, who's 25, with a gaming headset for Valentine's Day. He plays a lot of video games and even streams on Discord, but unfortunately, his current setup is pretty lacking—a flimsy mic and basic wired headphones just won't cut it! I've got a budget of $50 to $60 since I'm a student and not working right now. I'm not too familiar with gaming gear, so I would really appreciate some recommendations and tips. Thanks a bunch!

Have you thought about whether he'd be okay with some in-ear headphones and a separate mic? You could score a nice set of IEMs along with a good desktop mic for around $60. Generally, full headsets in that price range can be pretty underwhelming in quality. I'd suggest steering clear of one-piece headsets—those often compromise on sound quality.

I hope he's not using Sennheisers with that setup! Sounds like he just needs a better mic if that's the case.

If he has a bit of his own cash, maybe consider saving up for a better one. For your budget, it might be tough to find a quality headset, but I've heard good things about the Razer BlackShark. There's also the Razer Barracuda if you want something cheaper but still reliable. HyperX Flight is another great choice!
