Can I Add Sheet Music Display Features to an Electric Keyboard?

I'm very new to programming and want to explore a project involving an older RadioShack electronic keyboard—the musical instrument, not a computer keyboard. It can connect to a television and display graphics, and I'd like to know whether it's possible to modify its software or otherwise add an option for displaying sheet music. How can I determine whether the keyboard is programmable or updatable, and what resources would help me get started?

Start by finding the exact model number and looking for its manual, service documentation, firmware-update instructions, or information about the manufacturer’s development tools. A video output only means the keyboard can send a picture to the TV; it doesn’t necessarily mean users can change what the keyboard displays. Many older instruments have fixed firmware with no supported way to add features.

The main limitation is probably the hardware. Some keyboards store their program in write-protected memory, so changing the software may require specialized electronics work or replacing a memory chip. Before attempting that, identify the exact model, search for technical or service manuals, and inspect what ports it has. If there’s no documented update method, a more practical project would be to build an external device—such as a small computer or microcontroller—that generates sheet-music graphics and sends them to the TV separately.

MellowCactus47: So I should first check the model number and search for service information before trying to change anything inside it?
