Can I Boot My i7-10700 Without a Cooler Just to Test It?

I recently purchased a second-hand i7-10700 for my work setup, but I realized I don't have a mounting bracket for my cooler that fits the LGA 1200 socket. Is it safe to power it on without a cooler just to check if the system posts?

You should apply thermal paste and attach the heatsink even if itโ€™s just for a short test; itโ€™s safer that way. Just donโ€™t leave it running too long!

Yeah, you can power it on briefly to see if it works, but make sure you turn it off right away to avoid overheating.
