I'm trying to figure out if I can successfully run Linux on my HP EliteBook 840 G6. I've encountered some error messages during my attempts, specifically related to ACPI BIOS errors and some GPU-related issues. These include errors about buffer limits and index problems that seem to be related to the BIOS. Along with this, I also noticed a segfault error linked to the GUI library. Any insights on whether these issues can be resolved and what steps I can take to get Linux working smoothly on my machine would be really helpful!

You definitely want to provide more details about your Linux distribution and any specific hardware configurations when asking for help. This info can make it easier for the community to help you out. As for the GPU and CPU errors, it might just be noise unless you're seeing actual performance issues. Keep an eye on it though!

The errors you're seeing with i915 and CPU6 might be significant, but sometimes ACPI errors can be misleading and not impact your overall use of Linux. Make sure to test your setup thoroughly before diving into any complex fixes. It's often a red herring!

It sounds like you're dealing with some common ACPI errors that might not be a big deal. Often, these can come from the motherboard firmware and can usually be ignored. As long as you’re not experiencing performance issues beyond those errors, you might be okay! Maybe check if your firmware is up to date?

I did notice my computer was slow, but I think it's a battery-related issue. Just trying to figure out if anything else might be affecting performance.
