Can I Learn C++ Just by Watching Videos?

I'm eager to learn C++ before starting college, but my schedule doesn't allow for much practice at home. I usually have about 45 minutes during my commute to watch a Udemy course on C++. On weekends, I might have more time to practice, but that's about it. Can I really get good at C++ just by watching videos, or do I need to practice more? Also, is there a compiler app for mobile that I can use? I'm also curious about learning Python and Java.

You can't just learn by watching—it requires actual coding to grasp the concepts. If you can, check out online platforms like Glitch or Replit for some mobile coding, though it's rough on a phone. It’s better to have a desktop if possible!

Are there any beginner exercises you recommend?

If you want to learn well, try to code up small projects. Watching tutorials is beneficial, but the real learning happens when you apply what you've seen. Also, consider doing CS50x; it's a great comprehensive course!

Thanks! I'll look into that.

Make sure you don't fall into 'tutorial hell.' Just watching can lead to a lack of understanding. Try to start coding even simple projects, like a to-do list app. That's the best way to really learn!

I'll definitely do that. Thanks!

You definitely need to apply what you're learning. Watching tutorials is helpful, but it's like trying to learn to swim just by watching videos! Use that 45 minutes to try coding along with the videos whenever you can!

Thanks for the advice!

Just like learning any skill, practice is crucial. There are online resources and compilers you can try, but typing on your phone might be challenging unless you have a good keyboard. Better to code on a computer when you can!
