I'm building a new PC in a few days and would like to keep my current storage drive with Windows and all my files intact. The new build will also include a separate SSD with a fresh Windows installation. Is there anything I should prepare for when moving the old drive between different hardware, especially regarding Secure Boot, chipset or motherboard drivers, graphics drivers, and BitLocker?

Secure Boot may not remain enabled after moving an existing Windows installation to a different motherboard. You can usually boot with it disabled, then check whether the installation uses UEFI and has the required GPT partition layout before trying to enable Secure Boot again. If the old installation is unstable or refuses to boot, reinstalling Windows on the new SSD is the cleaner option.
If BitLocker is enabled, turn it off before changing the hardware and let the drive finish decrypting. If you leave it enabled, make sure you have the recovery key available because a motherboard or TPM change can trigger a recovery prompt.
