Can I play Fortnite on Linux?

I've been thinking about fully switching to Linux on my laptop, but I'm stuck because I occasionally play Fortnite with my friends. Currently, I'm dual booting Windows and Linux, and I'd love to know if there's any way to run Fortnite on Linux without having to stay on Windows. Are there workarounds?

You might want to reconsider those friends if Fortnite is keeping you tied to Windows! 😂 A cheaper option could be to grab an Xbox Series S for playing anti-cheat games like Fortnite, and then use your Linux setup for everything else.

Yeah, even if you set up a Windows VM with GPU passthrough, you’d need a pretty powerful setup, and even then, performance is often lackluster. If Fortnite is a must for you, sticking with dual booting is your best bet.

Unfortunately, Fortnite won't run on Linux due to its kernel-level anti-cheat system. The only feasible way to play it is by dual booting Windows. It seems pretty clear that Epic Games is not interested in supporting Linux for this game.

You can try using GeForce Now if your internet connection is solid. It streams the game from their servers, so you won't need to worry about compatibility on your local machine.
