I got frustrated and kicked my PS5 while it was sitting on the floor. Since then, the fan no longer spins, part of the metal covering is bent, and the console turns itself off after running for a few minutes. It still starts normally, shows my games, and lets me open them, but then it beeps and shuts down without displaying the usual power-off screen. One of the plastic clips holding the detachable disc-drive section in place also broke, leaving that part loose. Is this something I can safely repair myself, and what tools or steps would I need?

Stop using it until the fan issue is fixed. The shutdown is likely thermal protection because the fan is either unplugged, jammed, or physically damaged. You can remove the outer panels and check whether the fan connector has come loose, but if the fan bearing or motor was damaged, it will need to be replaced. Continuing to run the console without cooling could damage more expensive components.
The detachable disc-drive section is normally held in place by plastic locating clips, so a broken clip may leave it loose even if the drive still works. That part is separate from the overheating problem, but the bent metal cover and damaged mounting point should be inspected for anything pressing against the fan or blocking airflow. Don’t force the casing back into shape while the console is powered.
The disc section still seems attached, but it moves around because one of the plastic clips snapped. I’m guessing that will need a replacement bracket or housing rather than glue near the drive.
It turns on normally and I can launch games, but after a few minutes it beeps and shuts off completely. I’ll avoid using it until I can check the fan.
