Can I safely delete and recreate the Windows 11 recovery partition?

You can remove the recovery partition and expand the adjacent volume, but Windows Disk Management may not be able to do it if the partition is between the volume and the unallocated space. A partition manager or carefully planned DiskPart operation may be required. Back up important files first, and make sure you have a bootable Windows USB or other recovery method before deleting anything.

Microsoft has instructions for disabling WinRE, removing the existing recovery partition, shrinking or extending the relevant partition, and recreating WinRE afterward. The steps can be adapted to your layout, but check every disk and partition number carefully before running DiskPart commands. If WinRE is recreated incorrectly, Windows may fall back to using space on the operating-system partition instead.

First determine whether this is the standard Windows Recovery Environment partition or a vendor-specific factory-recovery partition. Vendor partitions can contain drivers, utilities, or a factory-reset image, so deleting one may remove that manufacturer recovery option. If you are comfortable reinstalling or resetting Windows from USB or cloud recovery, removing it is generally practical; otherwise, keep it and use a separate recovery drive.
