I currently have a setup with a MSI PRO B850-P motherboard that includes two SSDs. My concern is that my boot SSD is positioned right under my graphics card, which causes its temperatures to be a bit high—though not dangerously so. I'd like to remove my secondary SSD and save it for potential future use, especially given the uncertainty of SSD prices. My plan is to relocate my boot SSD to the slot of the secondary SSD to install a heatsink, hoping to keep the temperatures lower during the summer months. Is this a feasible swap, and will I encounter any problems since I would only have one SSD in the system? Do I need to adjust the boot order?

You can definitely move your boot SSD to the other slot. SSDs generally don't have stability problems unless they hit around 80°C for extended periods. If your temps are just under that, it’s probably fine to leave it as it is, but managing temperatures is always a good idea, especially for longevity!
I get that it's in a safe range, but keeping it cooler in the 40s could definitely help its lifespan. With SSD prices not dropping anytime soon, it might be worthwhile to invest in that heatsink.
