I'm looking to figure out if I can test a 5070 Ti GPU in my old Alienware Aurora PC. It's powered by an i7-8700 and currently uses a 2070. I just want to check if the new card works before I put it away until I build a new computer later on. Any advice on compatibility?

It really depends on your power supply. You might want to check if you have enough 8-pin power cables available since the 5070 Ti comes with a 3-in-1 connector. If your PSU can handle it, you should be good to go!
