Can I Transfer a Small File Directly From a Mac to a PC Over Thunderbolt?

I need to move a small network driver file to a PC that currently has no network driver, so it cannot connect to Wi‑Fi or a hotspot. I have access to a MacBook, but it only has USB-C/Thunderbolt ports and I do not have a USB-C flash drive or adapter for my regular USB drive. I tried connecting the Mac and PC with a Thunderbolt cable, but the PC cannot browse the Mac's files. Is there a straightforward way to transfer the file directly, or will I need an adapter or another device?

Bluetooth file transfer might work if both computers support the necessary profiles, but macOS and Windows can be awkward about sending arbitrary files this way. If the PC has any working wired connection available, using Ethernet or a USB network adapter would be more dependable than trying to use Thunderbolt as a storage cable.

A direct Thunderbolt connection does not normally make the Mac appear as a file drive on a Windows PC. It would require compatible Thunderbolt hardware, drivers, and networking or file-sharing configured on both systems, so it is not a simple plug-and-copy solution. The easiest reliable option is a USB-C flash drive or a small USB-C-to-USB-A adapter.

You could use a phone as an intermediate step: copy the file from the Mac to the phone, then move it to the PC. However, iPhones generally expose only photos and limited media storage over a normal USB connection, so this may not work for a driver file without using a file-storage app or cloud service.
