I'm trying to automate the scaling of our app service from three instances down to just one whenever it's not necessary. However, I discovered that enabling zone redundancy requires us to keep it at three instances. I'm wondering if there is a way to turn off zone redundancy on our app service plans to allow for this scaling down. Has anyone managed to do this?

Just a heads up, zone redundant resources may have limited availability. Depending on your region, you might not be able to turn zone redundancy back on after turning it off.
You can actually toggle zone redundancy off in the app service plan settings under the *Scale out* option. I think it’s just a matter of unchecking the box, but I haven’t done it myself, so I can’t confirm how easy it is.
Yes, you can turn zone redundancy off! If you’re using Terraform, I can switch it on and off and specify instance size and count easily.
There was a post that mentioned you can't turn it off once it's on and that you'd have to create a whole new app service plan without zone redundancy to move forward.
