Can I Use a 700 Series Motherboard with My Intel 12th Gen Processor?

I'm building my first PC and did a lot of research beforehand. However, after getting the CPU, I checked Intel's compatibility tool and it says my motherboard isn't compatible with my i7-12700K processor. I have an ASRock B760M Pro RS Wifi White motherboard, and it supports 12th gen Intel, but I'm confused. If my CPU needs a 600 series motherboard, will it still work with my 700 series one? I have until Thursday to return it if it's not compatible, so please help!

It’ll work just fine with your B760M motherboard. Just a quick tip: remember to update your BIOS to avoid any issues with your CPU!

I’m not sure how to update the BIOS. Should I do that after I build my PC? Is it like a software upgrade?

12th gen doesn’t have the same microcode issues as the later generations, but it’s always good to update!
