Can I Use Intel XMP RAM with My 9800X3D Processor?

I recently picked up some G.Skill Ripjaws S5 DDR5 RAM, which is 2x16GB at 6000MHz CL30, and the RAM has an Intel XMP profile. I also upgraded to a 9800X3D processor. Should I look for EXPO RAM instead and consider the current RAM as an investment, or can I use the XMP profile without any issues?

Definitely give it a shot! A CMOS reset can be super helpful if you run into any issues. Just remember to stress test your setup or run Memtest after everything's configured to make sure it’s stable.

You're good to go with the XMP profile. Many users have run their systems with Intel XMP RAM on AMD processors like the 9800X3D without issues. Generally, the difference between XMP and EXPO is pretty minor. If you're using G.Skill S5, just double-check on PCPartPicker for compatibility, but a lot of folks seem to have it working fine on AM5.

I think I'll just give it a shot and see how it runs. Just worried about RAM prices going up if it doesn’t work out by the time my other parts get here.

Just keep in mind, if you decide to overclock anything, there's a difference. EXPO profiles adjust some extra voltages along with timings, while XMP focuses mainly on voltage and timing. Your motherboard might automatically handle some of that for you, but it's good to stay cautious.
