Can I Use My Asus 12VHPWR Cable with an RX 9070XT?

Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade from my RX 7800XT to a Sapphire Pure RX 9070XT. I currently have an Asus TUF PSU with a 12VHPWR output that connects to two 6+2 pin cables for the GPU. I've heard mixed opinions about using pigtail configurations, and I want to know if it's safe to use the same cable with my new GPU. Some folks warn against using pigtails due to the risk of fire or damage—ChatGPT mentioned similar concerns—but I've been using it without issues for a year and a half. The other cables I have are a single 8 pin and a single 12VHPWR for Nvidia cards, which I'd rather not use if I can avoid it. Any advice on whether it's safe to use the existing setup would be greatly appreciated!

Using a pigtail cable isn't inherently an issue here, at least with your setup. The different concerns people have about pigtail cables usually arise when too much power is drawn from them, which isn’t the case for your Asus TUF PSU. The 12VHPWR to 2 x 6+2 pin setup is not a true pigtail since it has separate cables going to each connector. You’re fine to use this setup with your RX 9070XT! Just make sure your PSU is of good quality.

Thanks for clarifying! So it’s not really a pigtail the way I thought, just connected on one end to the PSU and then individually to the GPU. Really helps to understand the setup better. Appreciate it!
