I need an iPhone for work, but I would rather use a simpler phone at home, especially around my child. Is there a way to keep the same phone number on both devices so I can still call and text without carrying the iPhone everywhere?

Some mobile carriers offer multi-SIM or number-sharing plans, but the details vary by country and carrier. On some plans, only one phone can be active at a time, so you may have to switch one device off before using the other.
Google Voice could work for this. It lets you use one number across multiple devices, though the experience depends on whether you need regular carrier calls and texts or are fine using an internet-based service.
A VoIP service is another possibility. Just check the pricing and whether it supports the type of phone you want to use, since some services work much better with smartphones than basic phones.

The main catch is that VoIP depends on having a reliable data or Wi-Fi connection, so it may not behave like a normal mobile line everywhere.
