I'm trying to figure out if anyone has successfully gotten display output from the USB-C ports on a motherboard while using a Ryzen 9000 series processor. I recently built a new rig with a Newegg bundle, taking advantage of low RAM prices, but I'm new to the Ryzen 9000 lineup. I have an Asus 14-inch mini ultrawide touchscreen that I'd like to connect as a second monitor for apps like Discord and Spotify, and using USB-C DP seems like the simplest option.

What motherboard are you using? That's a big factor in figuring this out.
The key thing here is the type of CPU you have. Most Ryzen CPUs don't have integrated graphics; only the APUs do. So, if your motherboard has display outputs, you’ll need a CPU that supports it to actually get a display signal.
Also, just a heads-up: if you’re using an APU, they typically can only drive one display signal at a time, so keep that in mind if you plan to use dual monitors.
I'm using a 9850X3D, which does have integrated graphics, but I also have a dedicated GPU for my main display.

It's the MSI PRO B850M-A WIFI PZ. Does the chipset really matter?
