My PC is located somewhere inconvenient, and I want to copy files from it onto USB flash drives and SD cards without repeatedly going over to the computer or running a long cable or hub. Is there a simple wireless dongle or device I can plug in and leave connected for this purpose?

The simplest option is probably to enable file sharing on the PC and transfer the files over your local network from another computer. That avoids needing special wireless USB hardware.
A wireless SD card such as the Toshiba FlashAir can provide wireless access to files on the card. It may work for moving files without physically reaching the PC, although it is worth checking compatibility and availability first.
If the PC is already connected to the network, regular file sharing may be easier and more flexible than using a wireless card.
If you have a phone or tablet, you could connect a USB drive or SD card reader to it with the appropriate adapter, then access a shared folder on the PC over Wi-Fi and copy the files across. This still requires handling the storage device, but it avoids running a cable to the computer.
