Can My B450 System Handle a Ryzen 7 and New Graphics Card?

My PC is around five years old, and although it still runs reliably, newer games are becoming difficult to play at reasonable settings. I currently have an ASUS Prime B450-Plus motherboard, 32 GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 1650, and a 600 W be quiet! power supply that was purchased last year. I'm considering upgrading to a Ryzen 7 processor and a graphics card such as the RTX 5060 Ti, though I'm open to alternatives. My budget is roughly โ‚ฌ600 in Germany. Will the motherboard support the upgrade, would I need a BIOS update, and is the power supply sufficient? Could the motherboard limit the new hardware?

For a value-focused upgrade, a Ryzen 7 5700X or 5800X paired with either an RTX 5060 Ti or Radeon RX 9060 XT could make sense. The 16 GB graphics card option may age better for newer games, assuming the pricing is reasonable. A 600 W unit should generally be enough for this class of hardware if it is a good-quality model, but the exact PSU model matters.

SilverKite31: The 9060 XT is worth comparing with the Nvidia option rather than choosing purely by brand. Look at current prices, game performance, ray tracing, and whether you prefer Nvidiaโ€™s features or the extra memory.

Before buying, identify the exact power-supply model and check its PCIe connectors and age. Also update the motherboard BIOS while the current CPU is still installed. If gaming is the priority, consider a Ryzen 7 5700X3D if you can find one at a good price; otherwise, a 5700X paired with a stronger GPU may give better value within a โ‚ฌ600 budget.

The Prime B450-Plus uses the AM4 socket and can support the AM4 Ryzen 7 chips, but you may need to update the BIOS before installing the new processor. Check the exact CPU support list for your board first. The motherboard itself should not be a major gaming bottleneck.

MellowCedar47: Iโ€™m in Germany and can spend about โ‚ฌ600, but I donโ€™t know the exact model of the be quiet! power supply yet. I was considering a Ryzen 7 and a 16 GB 9060 XT because they seem to fit the budget.
