Can My Parents See My Online Search History?

I've never really worried about my mom seeing what I search online until recently. Since I'm under 18, she set up some parental controls through her settings app. Now, if I search certain things on Google, it blocks me from accessing them with a message that says I'm not allowed. It gives me the option to allow the site, but I'm too scared to do that because it sends her a notification. It recently got updated again, and now it restricts even more apps like Google, Discord, and Instagram. I ended up disabling those restrictions on her phone just to use them. My main concern now is whether she'll receive a notification if I look up something embarrassing on Google, especially since she has these parental controls in place. I'm really worried about it, so any insight would be appreciated!

I think it depends on the specific controls your mom set up. Some parental control apps have features that alert parents about attempts to access restricted content. But if you’ve turned off some restrictions, that might help your case for now.

Gotcha! I’ll be super cautious then. Thanks for the info!

Yeah, it’s definitely possible your parents can see your search history if they have parental controls enabled. Usually, they can see what you’re trying to access and if you attempt to visit blocked sites, it might send them alerts. If you want more privacy, try using a different device that isn’t connected to their account.

Oh man, that sounds rough! Just remember that it’s important to communicate with your parents about privacy and boundaries too.
