I've had some ongoing issues with another YouTuber, and they recently threatened to leak my IP address. I'm wondering if it's possible for them to actually retrieve it through YouTube—or if there's a way I can protect myself from this happening?

Only way they could actually find it out is if you interact with their links, so be careful. But honestly, if they threaten to 'leak' your IP, it's pretty empty and doesn't really mean much. The best way to stay safe is to stay off sketchy links and don't reveal personal info.

No, they can't get your IP directly from YouTube. Even if they somehow did 'leak' it, it won't reveal your exact home address. It generally gives only a rough location tied to your ISP, and those IPs can change frequently. The only time you might have a static IP is if you've specifically paid for one.

Short answer: no, they can't just get your IP unless you click on something they created. The worst that could happen is they might get your geographic region, and unless you do something illegal, there's really no danger. Just changing your IP address is usually easy.

Having someone know your IP isn't a big deal. They might get a general idea of your location, but generally, it wouldn't lead to any real issues. Sure, they could attempt to launch a DDoS attack, but that costs money, and most people wouldn't waste their resources on that.

You typically can't get someone's IP address directly from YouTube. However, if this person sends you a link to a site they control and you click on it, then yes, they could see your IP that way. Just a heads up, many ISPs use dynamic IP addresses, so you can easily reset your router to get a new one if needed!
