Hey everyone, I have an LG MR400-b IPS monitor and I've noticed some weird behavior when I turn my speakers on and off. I have two speakers connected to an external powered subwoofer, and when I power them, a strange horizontal line (about 1 pixel thick) appears on the monitor. The speakers are placed about 10 cm (3.9 inches) away from the sides of the monitor, while the subwoofer is on the floor 1 meter below the screen. I use HDMI for video, and the only wires that touch the monitor are the speaker's red/black wires, which are touching the monitor's power connector and also slightly touching the HDMI cable. I'm worried if this setup could potentially damage my monitor or shorten its lifespan. By the way, the speakers are pretty old and unshielded.

Yeah, magnets from speakers can definitely interfere with monitors, especially if they're unshielded like yours. That horizontal line seems like a sign that the speakers are affecting your display. It's best to keep them further away to avoid any potential damage.
For sure! If it’s causing visual problems like that line, it’s not ideal. I’d recommend moving your speakers further away—at least 25-30 cm should be fine. I’ve had big speakers for years with no issues at that distance!
That should work better! Just make sure there's enough distance to avoid any interference. The wooden barrier should help too.
Here’s a link to my setup for reference. I keep my speakers quite a bit away, and it’s worked perfectly fine! https://preview.redd.it/1qox2wjiwiwg1.png
Looks great! Can I ask something else while I'm here?
I wouldn’t worry too much, but keeping the speakers away is definitely a good idea. Better safe than sorry!

Got it! Would it help if I placed the speakers above the monitor instead, like 20 cm higher but still 10 cm to the side? The separation would be around 22 cm with a bit of wood in between, even though it’s not super thick.
