Can Windows Trackpads Match the Smooth Scrolling of a MacBook Pro?

I have a 2019 MacBook that I really enjoy using because of its amazing trackpad, but lately, it's been running slowly. I'm considering switching to a Windows laptop, but I'm concerned about the quality of the trackpads. When I tried using a modern Windows laptop, I noticed that when I used two fingers to scroll diagonally, it seemed to only allow scrolling in one direction at a time. This behavior is different from my experience on the MacBook, where I can pan smoothly in any direction like I would on a touchscreen. Is there a way to fix this in Windows so that it allows for smooth, unrestricted scrolling in all directions right from the get-go? Thanks!

Windows does have its limitations when it comes to trackpad gestures. If you want something similar to macOS, you might want to consider trying Linux, particularly ElementaryOS. It has a similar look and feel to macOS, runs much faster than Windows, and offers a lot of customization for gestures. Just check out some YouTube videos to see how it works—if performance is your main concern, this could be a great option.

If you're leaning towards Windows for gaming, just keep in mind that some anti-cheat systems don’t support Linux very well. I've also found Linux a bit tricky to use at first, but some distros like ElementaryOS tend to be user-friendly. Definitely worth looking into for your workflow!

Have you thought about doing a clean install of your MacBook? Sometimes just reinstalling macOS can help with performance issues. It could be worth trying before you make the switch!

Windows trackpads typically don't perform as well as Macs because they're made by various manufacturers, so the smoothness can vary widely. The functionality depends largely on the hardware and drivers used. If you're really used to the Mac experience, it might be tough to find a Windows laptop that matches it exactly.
