I'm putting together my first gaming-focused PC and would appreciate feedback on compatibility, value, and possible upgrades. My current parts are an ASUS Prime B550M-A WiFi motherboard, Ryzen 7 5700 processor, Radeon RX 9070 graphics card, Thermalright Peerless 120 cooler, 1TB Silicon Power M.2 SSD plus an additional 2TB drive, 32GB of G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR4 memory, a Phanteks XT Pro Silent mid-tower case, and an MSI MAG A750GL 750W power supply. My total budget is around $1,300–$1,500. I'm mainly interested in strong gaming performance and high frame rates rather than prioritizing high resolution. Should I change any components or make specific upgrades?

For gaming, you could save money with a Ryzen 5 5600 and use the difference toward a faster graphics card such as the RX 9070 XT. That would be a strong setup for 1440p. If you’re targeting 1080p instead, a 16GB RX 9060 XT may offer better value and still deliver high frame rates with a suitable Ryzen processor.

I’m not really aiming for 1440p specifically. I mostly want smooth performance and good frame rates, so I’m leaning toward the RX 9060 XT because it costs about the same as the 12GB RX 9070 option I was considering.

I’d reconsider the Ryzen 7 5700. It has reduced cache compared with the usual desktop Ryzen 5000 gaming chips, so it isn’t a particularly strong choice for this budget. A Ryzen 7 5700X would be a better drop-in option, although a Ryzen 5 5600 is also a good gaming choice if you want to put more money toward the graphics card.

I’ll mainly be gaming. Would you recommend the 5700X, or is there another processor that makes more sense for this build?
