Can You Solder an AM5 Socket onto a Laptop Motherboard?

I'm trying to build my own laptop with a custom case and want to explore motherboard options. Ideally, I want it to be upgradable in the future. Besides XMG and Clevo laptops, I can't think of many laptop motherboards that have a removable CPU. So, I'm curious: in theory (ignoring the thermal and power supply challenges for now), is it possible to solder an AM4 or AM5 socket onto a laptop motherboard instead of having the CPU soldered directly? Is it feasible to "bolt on" an AM5 socket if the motherboard has the right chipset and BIOS?

In theory, anything's possible, but do you have the resources to actually pull this off? I mean, it would be a massive project!

There are tons of reasons why this isn't feasible! Laptop BGA CPUs are definitely different sizes than desktop CPUs and their sockets. Plus, there are about a hundred more reasons it's not going to work.

Unfortunately, such a motherboard with a socket like you described doesn't exist in the market.

Honestly, why not think outside the box and build your laptop with an ITX board or something that has a socket? You could even look into an AIO PC as an alternative.

If you're thinking about soldering on a socket, it would only work if the motherboard was designed for an AM4 or AM5 socket. BGA CPUs have a different pinout and package compared to sockets, so it's not just a simple swap.
CuriousBuilder22: That's interesting! What exactly is different about the pinout or package?

DeepPocketsAlan: For real! You're gonna need the right equipment and a fair bit of cash to make this happen.
