Choosing Between the Ryzen 7 5700X and Ryzen 7 5800XT: Which One Should I Go For?

I'm ready to upgrade from my Ryzen 7 2700X and have already picked up an ASUS B550-F motherboard. Now I'm stuck between the Ryzen 7 5700X and the Ryzen 7 5800XT, which I found on AliExpress priced at $157.46 and $158.61 respectively. I'm also contemplating whether it's better to buy one of these now or wait for potential Black Friday sales.

If you can, I'd suggest waiting a bit longer. AMD recently talked about re-releasing the 5800X3D, so it might be worth holding off for that announcement before making a purchase.

Really? Do you have a link or more info about that?

If you care about how much power your CPU uses, the 5700X is definitely better. But if you're looking for the slight edge in performance, the 5800XT is worth the extra money. Just keep in mind that Black Friday deals on these might not be as big as you'd hope, so don't expect dramatic discounts.

The 5700X is pretty much the same as the 5800XT but consumes less power and runs cooler. For me, that's a huge plus, so I'd go for the 5700X if you're concerned about temperatures and efficiency.

Honestly, I faced this tough choice and picked up both. In the end, I leaned towards the 5700X because it uses about 115 watts at max load and stays around 70°C, which is pretty solid. On the flip side, both chips will be a great upgrade from your 2700X, so you really can't go wrong here!

While both CPUs are quite similar, the 5800XT offers slightly better performance with a higher boost clock. However, in practical terms, you're looking at maybe a 2-5% difference in most scenarios. If you find either for a good price, go for it, but don't stress too much about the small performance gap.

And it might require better cooling too, adding to your overall costs.
