Hey everyone! I'm about to install my very first Linux distribution, and I'm looking for some recommendations tailored to my situation. I'll be putting this on my HP OMEN laptop, primarily for school purposes, and I'm eager to get accustomed to Linux before moving it to my desktop.
I'm hoping to find a distro that is user-friendly since I'm totally new to Linux. I really appreciate straightforward setups—like installing apps and having my audio function properly without too much hassle. I wouldn't mind doing a little tinkering, but I'd prefer things to just work!
I use WaveLink software on my desktop and would like to see if I can get my WaveXLR to operate on my laptop as well, especially since I need it for managing submixes and multiple audio channels. Also, I am curious about gaming compatibility; I've heard many distros are already gaming-friendly, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
I've seen people talk about ZorinOS—does it fit my needs? Or are there other distros you would recommend for someone in my shoes? I also tried the Distrochooser, and it suggested Kubuntu as a good fit, but I'd love to hear thoughts from experienced users rather than just a quiz result.
